Greetings all
I eventually had my camera returned but it didn't really matter until a few days ago. My PC is sick and in dock till I get a friend to have a look, so I got the software sorted onto another PC. All sorted for now.

I have uploaded several images to Flickr of recent activity Some persistent trails sylph/virga formations, lines of cloud formation that are not trails, plus.
I put a series of 5 images into one that I took of two planes and their trails within 30 secs of each other - the first left a lingering, twisting, spreading trail while the second plane left a short, quickly dissipating trail. Maybe Hector could shed some light on this. (Hector, I have the larger originals if you are interested.) The 2nd plane had a lower more drone sound than the first, The distance between the planes appeared to remain constant. I thought they were at the same height or there abouts because I could see the planes when they were overhead, equally visible and sized. . I find it hard to believe the atmosphere is as variable as implied by all the scientific and mathematical jargon out there on this subject.
I also included an image I took in Nelson on Monday ... I tried (unsuccessfully) to capture a persistent lingering segment of trail with a dark line/shadow behind it. I got the trail segment but the line/shadow is not visible - the glare was intense. The image I uploaded has had the gamma adjusted for 'cloud' definition. Much of Nelson sky was awash with messy hazy formations and persistent trail remnants - south, east and north. To the west of Nelson the sky was clear bar a row of cumulus over the ranges. I have been thinking about Secondfeilds investigation report and locations of trail activity.
The sun rays over this way are burning hot ... wearing a light coloured top and having to leave the sun for the burning sensation through the material??? Not noticed this heat in the sun's summer rays before. :shock:
