Second day of lingering (rather than persistent) trails, trail segments spreading into bands/patches of haze, and sylph like formations. Firsts observations of trails, etc in late morning (10:30 >>). More frequent today - possibly because more air traffic today (Sundays seem to be busy flight days).
I just spotted a huge white plane with no markings - lower than other planes. It left thick white tracks that began between wing and tail of plane. The plane passed over the haze patches - which indicates the haze is falling, no? The haze is text book referenced as cirrus cloud - the plane appeared too low to be traveling above cirrus. ?? I not expert ..
The MetService extended brief forecast was for southerlies and rain today and tomorrow ... it's a beautiful sunny day that started with heavy fog (very cool night). No rain and the southerly not here yet. ?? Observation charts put a high over most of NZ with lows frequently sweeping by south and south-west of NZ.
I predict the day will see more of the same re trails and haze, etc ... update later. Still waiting for my camera to get home ... grrr .. just when you need it.
Tidbit: Last week a jet flew down (eastward) the Pelorus Valley - below the hilltops. Plane white - no markings that I could see. Made me think of John Travolta ... hehe. Could be a rich man with an expensive toy ??? We used to see airforce jets frequently do their thing in the valley. We would be on our way across the paddock to the river for a swim and hear them come - sometimes two in succession - sideways. The noise when directly under them is deafening - literally for a while after. My sons loved it.

I have just come in from outside and there are persistent trails in the night sky - northbound - spreading and drifting slowly westward. The night is clear - I'm a bit of an owl, so I'll keep a check 'till late.
For all the rain we had recently the grounds and gardens are thirsty ... these cool nights have been drawing the moisture back up again.

This was taken looking SW from Upper Hutt at 8:36pm 28 Dec 2007.
These cirrus forms were moving west fairly quickly.

sure, Hector, they are clouds, sure, they are cirrus
anyone can see that
as you well know, we here are concerned with what else they might be , too
we have seen them generated from jets, in ways that are not consistent with the official explanation
we have read , widely and with healthy scepticism, many accounts claiming to associate chemtrails with weather control initiatives, with weapon systems, with energy transfer systems , and more
perhaps, instead of trivialising our efforts, you could use your knowledge of scientific systems, to investigate in a full and fair way, the real nature of these cirrus clouds?
there are accounts, substantiated by analyses of soil samples,and of the filterings from air-conditioning units, stating that these chemtrails contain sulphur, aluminium oxide, barium stearate, and occasionally, polymer threads carrying biological pathogens.
have you researched any of this, yourself?
these reports have enough consistency, over years, and enough scientific integrity , to give us valid cause for alarm, especially when we live in an area where these things are common, and it can be clearly seen that some jets generate them, and not others , with orthodox explanations falling well short of adequacy
please find out for us, if you don't know already, is there a practical way to analyse the contents of these cirrus clouds, using, perhaps, spectrum analysis , of the light reflected from them?
can you suggest any other way to put the question to the test?
examination of the aeroplanes, and their fuel springs to mind
would you be willing to put your name to such a request?
it seems to me, that just simply categorising chemtrails as cirrus clouds, and implicitly trivialising the efforts of those of us asking questions, is hardly an honorable manifestation of the spirit of scientific inquiry?
especially when there may be means available, to investigate the phenomenon objectively? can you help to clarify this possibility?

No obs of persistent or lingering trails, etc on 31st - some cloud, south-east wind and cool.
1 January 08 - lingering trails, etc .. much same as 29 and 30 Dec .. (30 Dec - observed trails into the night)
Today lingering trail observed around 10:30am - small bands of cirrus drifting westward - sylph like formations, etc ... dissipating/clearing within 30mins. Going to be a hot summer day here - I can hear the river calling.
Still having cool clear nights - lots of dew. Tremendous heat in the sun rays.
Cicadas starting singing 2 days ago - summer is here. :D
Hector ... thank you muchly for your input . It is healthy to have different perspectives - provoking balanced thinking ... bla, bla .... Just to say I appreciate the knowledge you present ... Questions come from folk with their heads up - looking and wondering ... when questions are not answered or there are inconsistencies in the answers one can only be but suspicious, not to mention confused, defensive, synical ... transparency = truth = .... better than what we got. Ignorance is bliss.. (If we don't look and ask questions then we are unsuspecting and 'open game'.)
