Im heading down there next weekend for a 2 day break and some chemtrail/blackbeam hunting.
Having lived down there a few years ago I know how bad the sky can get so will be sharp on the lookout with my new camera should there be anything to photograph. Hopefully the weather is great.
I may try and get to Waihopi as well for a nosey as I havent seen that place yet.

Well worth a visit and certainly a place where we saw a lot of trail activity, as well as the black beams and some other anomalous objects appearing in our photographs of the time...

Watch out for the white vans - one will almost certainly come out and check you out if you hang around outside for any length of time. :P

(And don't forget to text info4 for a Flight Explorer ref if you see anything unusual)

White vans huh, do they just pop out of the ground? :P Or is it the latest trend down on the farm to be seen in one......

Secondfield personally delivered me a bunch of Google earth maps tonight with several interesting features that require furthe investigation and documentation at ground level regarding the base and its surroundings.

After viewing the maps I have to say it is going to be more than a fleeting visit. The surrounding area has many anomalies that need to be documented.

Cheers Humps for your efforts on that one bro, I will take a stab at getting all the photos you requested of the area.

Of particular interest are the large ponds in the immediate vicinty of the base.
Anyone who has done any research on underground installations will know they often have large cooling ponds above ground for their reactors.
The Google pics show 3 such ponds one of which is huge and there appears to be no explaination for their presence.
I will have a real good snoop and knock on some doors to find out what they are all about.

The area in the surrounding vicinity of the Waihopai base is fast becoming a very, very big wine growing area. There are some huge developments going in there, with big investment in new wine industry all over the valley. We visited one such potential development last time we were in Marlborough on behalf of a client.

The ponds are there for the vineyards/agricultural activities - winemakers are not allowed to take the water they need from surrounding rivers - water is a very big deal in the wine industry in the Marlborough Region. If you look at the large 'D' shaped pond that I think you are referring to, you'll notice that to the right of it are some very big areas of land characterised by long straight rows, probably vineyards...

Yep, thats a definate possibility. We were wondering about the rows next to it. Secondfield swears there isnt anything that looks like that in the rest of the whole area.
It could be grapevines covered in netting or shade houses etc etc.
We shall see.

If you mean the white area in behind the base, that indeed looks like the bird netting they use on grapevines or fruit trees etc. We have been down that road behind the base and I think, from memory, there are orchards there as well.

OK Im back.

We had fantasic weather while we were down there.

We went to Waihopi Base and took photos, nothing much to report back on there right now.
Spent a night in Motueka and witnessed very heavy chemtrail activity the next day, it was a whiteout by 3-4pm on Sunday.

The highlight of my sky watching over the weekend was a dramatic hole punch cloud event. For several minutes I filmed a series of hole punch clouds forming just above Whangamoa. This was nothing short of spectacular and to see it in the video is amazing. I couldnt believe how fast they were forming! This was the first time I had ever seen anything like it and watching it again and again in the video clip is incredible. I got very lucky with that one!

The video file is 125mb so Im unable to upload it anywhere for everyone to see at the moment. Im going to get help to put it online.

The new camera is great, I got a very good shot of a jet leaving a contrail, you can clearly see the jet and its features. The camera didnt fare so well during the heavy spray event, the haze in the sky and air was giving the auto focus hell but Ive figured out the manual settings now so it wont fail next time.

I hope to share the Holes video soon. Give me a week or so to get someone else to sort it for me :)

Actually, has anyone ever seen a video of this phenomena anywhere before???

I think I may have scored a "first" with this one!
I dont recall ever seeing anything other than still images of it.

This sounds stunning smash! I've only ever seen still shots of the Hole Punch clouds (also called Fallstreak clouds I believe). It'll be great to see them forming...

If you have a large file, free to email us a CD - We could resample a little to get the file size down, but we have a lot of server space to host your file...

Sweet, I would really like it to be based on your servers, PM your postal address to me and I will send it on CD before the weekend with the details of the event before this weekend. :D

I took nearly 2gb of pics and video over the weekend using my new digicam.

I can only post a few because Im on dialup :(

This was a cracker shot, Im posting the maxed digi zoom shot....Just because.
I like this photo.

Here are a couple of still shots taken shortly before I took video of mini hole punch clouds forming.

And Im still trying to figure out what kind of bird or plane this was....The full 6mp pic doesnt help much with the bird or plane theory....

That top pic of the jet was taken from Picton Airport looking Westward. Im assuming It was Flying on the flight path that heads over Rai Valley. It was leaving a normal quickly dissipating contrail behind itself. We were maybe 50km to the side of its path when I took the shot.

Wow fantastic pics Smash!
Those hole-punch clouds look amazing - can't wait to see the video too. Quite possibly an internet first

I really ought to invest in a good digital SLR, I've been seeing weird clouds above Wellington for the past week or so - well, unusual ones anyway.

Hey folks, just letting ya know I saw the holy clouds the other day in Gisborne, but no plane was observed.
But I have watched the sky all my life and these were a mega strange phenomenon. Really really trippy looking.
Spewing I didn't get the digi cam out for evidence!

Will do next time

Excellent shots Smash!!! :thumbsup

Thanks for the headsup on fallstreak. I had not heard of the term (theory).
Cant wait to see your motion footage, looks likely to be fascinating.

Any white van pics? 8) :-)

Yeah Ive got a pic with 1 of the vans in it.

We pulled up about 1/2 a km from the base and walked down to it, a white van pulled out before we had gone 50 yards and drove past us.

Unfortunately my girlfriend is a stickler for playing by the rules and was very uneasy that I dragged her past Do Not Enter signs etc to get in close (Rules were made for breaking sometimes I reckon) so the lark about the base was a quick one  I sympathise with her, Im a loose cannon when it comes to stuff like that....

Im going to go back again sometime soon and really have a good look around, need a 1/2 day set aside looking for wierdness in the surrounding area and sky.

My brother is a microlight pilot, if I could twist his arm......

yo hi guys, i been out of the loop lately, too much work and not enuff spare time or something...
great pics smash !!

i checked out the base pic in photoshop and it is quite odd, i assumed it was a bird at first but hard to say...

its too big to be a bird in the distance, if it was a bird it would have been flying reasonably close to the base and would have been quite noticeable while you were taking the shot... it rather pixelated but so is the dish when zoomed up...

heres my extract and examination of the object, doesnt look like a bird to me!, ive enhanced detail in second try and used solarize filter (which only alters colours and doesnt change any pixel data)
check it !

Hmmm, unfortunately there was alot of heat shimmer at the base that day, it was very dry and hot and you can see the rising hot air has made the pics a little less sharp. Still a plane or bird would still have shown up clearly.

Ive got a few thoughts on the base and the objects photographed around it.

I didnt see it with my own eyes at the time because one was shut and the other was peering through the viewfinder of my cam staring at a tiny LCD screen when the shot was taken.

Im going to have a chat about it all to a few people before making my thoughts known about it all....

John and Melody are away for a week or so which means the vid wont be up for about that time, although I have 2 and 1 is small enough to upload to flikr tonight to give all those who are interested a look (provided it uploads ok).
Im sending both clips to John and Melody and should I succesfully upload 1 tonight I will delete it when they put them onto their servers because it belongs on Mysteriousnz!

Im going back down to the base in a few months for a detailed investigation of the area and will be taking more equipment with me when I do.
Secondfield is working on modified webcams to film the infra red spectrum which we can hookup to my new laptop for a day or 2 of filming in the area, anyone familiar with the work of Trevor James Constable will know why I want to do this, and should secondfield be able to travel with me we can set broadcast quality cameras to roll and get some time lapse of the airspace around the base.
I intend to spend 4-5 days in the area on my next run.

I don't think the cloud forms in the second and third photos in the post at Wed Mar 07, 2007 1:33 am (containing 4 photos) above, are "hole punch" ("Fallstreak") clouds. I'm waiting for a link to the video clip for confirmation.

OK, I didnt realise I had taken this vid until just the other day, it was taken during the event and isnt the clip Im sending to John and Melody. All the same its worth sharing as it does show a hole forming in the "cloud" at the time.

Cheers Hector, you could be right, the other clip I have has better footage of what was going on.

If they arent hole punch clouds they are still very interesting and if we cant find a lable for what I filmed Im claiming it as a first (As in first dude to film such a thing) and I here by also claim naming rights to the phenomenon.

If they arent hole punch clouds, Im going to name them "Hole Smash Clouds"
Think of them as "The little brother to hole punch clouds"

Here is the video I wasnt going to share...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhJ6QkIfVwc

The camera work was shoddy to say the least, It was the first time I had run with my new gear I didnt have the tripod set up, it was all free hand and my neck was killing me while I was shooting it (Used to be a headbanger :) )

I didnt even realise that what I was filming at the time might be of interest, so it probably looks a bit @$#&!!*.....So what!
