Interesting cloud forms
Take a look at these three satellite images today on the LandCare site.
4 Jan 2007 5:26am
http://satellite.landcareresearch.co.nz/noaa/?history=kd04017.txt
Red (cirrus in the night processing?) stripe from Wairarapa, southeastwards.
Not there in the previous, and not there in the later one (next). Suggestions anyone?
Look at the area northwest of Haast...
The red stripe in the 4 Jan 2007 5:26am image is a contrail probably originally on the Christchurch to Rotorua or Auckland track east of South Island and has been moved to its position in the image.
The cyan stripe in the 4 Jan 2007 9:57am image is a cirrus streak in the jet stream that as there at the time.
The odd structure east of Fiordland in the image above abd the 4 Jan 2007 2:08pm image... I don't know. But it's not an anomaly - something like it has occurred there before, and will likely again. Major cudos for the person who reports the next one.
