It's easy and fun! \:D/
I received the September Telecom newsletter with my account today. Often I throw them away without a glance, but I took a quick look at this one and noticed that they were promoting this website in their Technozone section.
The site lets you upload a picture of yourself (or even a whole gallery of pictures) and compares you to faces already on the system, typically celebrities. I thought this was rather interesting, particularly the aspects of privacy etc. and the implications of their building up a global facial recognition database under the guise of entertainment and genealogy resource. Apparently the site has over a million registered contributors/faces...
Their aim, as stated on their website is: "Our vision has been to make it easier for people around the world to use the power of the Internet to discover their heritage and strengthen their bonds with family and friends."
I decided to do a little research on the website (created and run by an Israeli company) and in the process, came across this blog entry by a Sydney business man, who also has had some thoughts about the privacy issues (it didn't however, stop him uploading his own photo apparently)...
