A couple of years ago I stumbled across an article by chance in a magazine called NZ Today about the strange and unexplainable ruins found in the Waipoua Forest. I held onto the magazine and finally got around to scanning the article and have uploaded to the net.

It is in PDF Format and you will have to download each page individually, the files may take a minute or 2 to download if you havent got broadband...

They are located here http://profiles.livingfulfillment.com/jrmnz111/folders/WaipouaForestNZ/

I pointed it out to John and Melody and Im hoping they may investigate it further for a proper feature on MysteriousNZ.

There are rumours that DOC has been secretly dismantling these sites to avoid our history as a nation ever having to be rewritten! For that reason Im making the article available to everyone.

Enjoy!

More photos and information can be found here...http://www.celticnz.co.nz/waipoua_fs.html

What we have here, in my opinion is an ancient city buried in the Waipoua Forest.

Here is an interesting quote from that site....

Quote:
These are a few examples of registered structures, designated as purpose built by archaeologists, which were mapped by position, described and recorded for posterity. The information derived was considered so sensitive that it was then labelled "restricted" and not to be viewed by the general public until the year 2063.

Great article Smash, makes me want to head up north and do a bit of investigating myself. Have to wonder why this important area is being ignored.

So I hear on the news that many archeological sites in this are have been destroyed by the huge forest fire that has been raging through there the last few days. Does anyone have further information?

OK, so the original link died ages ago and I made a new one a few months back and I just finished updating the page now so that it is much easier to read the whole article.
Each PDF page of the magazine article is now embedded the same as a youtube video, just click the full screen icon on each page and away you go!

Hey Smashdracs.

To do more research speak with on the phone to a Noel Hilliam - the curator of the Dargaville Museum. He is a wealth of knowledge on what is in this forest or in some cases what was in this forest before the local maori demolished traces of said "stuff".
