On Sunday 21st, while driving along West Coast Road in West Auckland at about 2.15 pm I saw a vertical white trail being laid. It shot up steeply and then it arced sharply downward and moved away towards the west coast. I could see a small craft of some kind at the end - trying to see more while driving. :!:
As we neared the City, the trail broadened and thickened. It was still visible half an hour later. It was an unusual shape - quite different from anything I've seen so far.
Well that's difficult to describe as I've no knowledge of planes, but in the distance it looked similar to pictures of trails being laid, either here on the forum, or on other sites, where a small craft is visible at the end of a trail.
I only got a couple of quick glimpses craning my neck while driving along but there was some type of plane making this trail.
Hi All , there were a couple of trails on Sunday. I think , Joan , your referring to the large trail that formed around 2.15pm. I'm about to upload a image of it - taken by a cell phone camera I'm afraid... I watched this through binoculars for about 5 minutes. It was definitely a 737 or 767 - 2 engine large jet. I saw if from a long way off to start with and what was cool was the way in which the plane reflected the sun at different times so you couldn’t really see the plane at all. I had a great view as it passed over though - still very high in the sky but by the looks of it heading for a landing at AK airport. The contrail appeared to come more from the tail than from the engines but I suppose that’s just the way the air flows.

If it is coming from the tail then it wont be a contrail, rather just a vapour trail.
But of course this effect you can see maybe just be the trail forming some distance behind the engines.

The exhaust from a jet engine does not ordinarily create an instant Contrail/Persistent Contrail. First there must be a process of mixing and chemical reaction within the exhaust plume in order to create the right conditions for the trail to become visible. For example, super heated (500K) water vapour molecules must attach to and form around suitable nuclei, condense, then cool to below freezing temperature. It is the ice crystals in a trail that makes it visible. This process happens very quickly, but it is not instant and it is normal for the visible trail to appear at the level of or just behind the tail of the craft. This will vary somewhat depending on a number of factors. These include: aircraft design, size and speed, ambient pressure, temperature and relative humidity and also the quantity of suitable natural aerosols such as dust etc in the surrounding air. If there is a substance within the fuel that is designed to create large numbers of super-hydrophilic particles (aerosols) within the exhaust plume, then I would guess that the process would happen much quicker. It would also happen closer to the engines, though I would imagine that what we see initially, is large quantities of condensed water (as we see clouds) which, in a visual sense, subsequently and seamlessly freeze at the normal distance from the engines for the particular type of aircraft.

This one, on the other hand, seems very abnormal. The trail is forming unusually close to the engines which means that the mixing, chemical reactions etc are happening almost instantly, this together with the unusual colours in the trail, would justify labelling the trail as a Chemtrail:
The formation of any trail is not magic, the science is, on the most part, well understood and this diagram, if you will take the time to understand it, represents the accepted scientific model of normal visible contrail formation...
I hope all this is of help. This whole subject is a very complex one and riddled with misinformation and disinformation - as is basically everything these days, and demands much giving of the self along the path of understanding...
Out of interest , my girlfriend mentioned sh had heard something in regard to a new book shop opening in New Lynn which were holding seminars I think re Sept 11 , UFO's that kind of thing. Are you guys aware of this?
I'll find out some more information and pass it on...

The book shop is called Da Vinci books (formerly Halligans, dealing in secondhand books etc). They seem to have a strategic partnership going with Jonathon Eisen from Uncensored Magazine (both having ads on each other's websites and so on). Eisen is doing seminars at the store (Wednesday nights I think?). There is a small charge, though I'm not sure what it is.
