I filed a report with the geological service immediately after the quake. I read about the quake online in a Chinese newspaper, so it made the news in China, that article stated that the geological service had 120 reports within minutes of the quake from right across central NZ.
Just a side note, I had sent a txt to a friend moments before the quake as I had detected some strong frequency pulses that were sounding through my stereo speakers minutes before the quake......not the kind you get when your cell phone is active...
And NO!!!! tHERE WERENT MANY LOCAL NEWS REPORTS ABOUT IT!...damn caps key... |

smash, this is extremely worrisome. the wider question for all of us is why aren't we being apprised of these events!? i mean for crying out loud!, what the hell is going on in this country? is the whole government/media establishment asleep at the wheel? or is this non-responsiveness deliberate? what? do we get our primary news from china now? i can understand tvnz screwing up, but canwest also? jeepers, cuz!
fwiw: there was a 3.4 reported many kms off the coast of kaikoura some months back, and no one on land even felt it! so who bloody well cares about that? |

| Another thing really struck me about this event, stuff all people noticed it, over half the people Ive asked slept through it. LOL are the majority of New Zealanders asleep at the wheel????? :( |
