Hi All,

In the past week, our server was attacked by a hacker. This resulted in measures being taken to protect the rest of our provider's network and, at times, restrictions being placed on our own bandwidth and services while the activity was traced and contained.

The details of the activity have now been identified and the hacker shut down. Security measures in place may result in one or two site malfunctions and we are working to quickly identify and restore these.

Apologies for the inconvenience over the past week and for any trouble you may experience in the next day or two. Hopefully further problems will be minimal and we will be up and running again without difficulty by the end of the weekend.

Thanks to all those that emailed reporting issues. Anyone else finding problems, please let us know. At this stage, issues are likely to be related to emails and confirmation emails.

1.) Currently, you will not be able to upload to the gallery.

2.) At this stage, if you make a post you will receive an error related to emailer.php and the confirmation emails will not be sent. Your message will still, however, appear on the forums.

3.) New users will be able to register and will appear in the member list, but will receive an error message on registration, no confirmation emails and therefore may not be able to activate their new user accounts. Please email forums1@mysteriousnewzealand.co.nz to request that your account be activated manually by the administrator.

I will make further announcements as issues are remedied.

Functionality has now been restored to the Forums and Photo Gallery. All confirmation emails, upload facilities and registration processes are working again.
