| The lockhead lO11 picture with the thick contrail...I mean the plane looks like a CGI aircraft and theyre passing it off as a real pic. The trail looks like its real but im not so sure about the aircraft. What do you think? |

I tend to agree that the trails from this plane do not appear to be usual and are possibly computer generated. This pic below is, I think, also of a Lockheed L101 and shows the type of contrails that would be expected from a three engined aircraft:
Of course what we see in the Airliners.net photo may be another effect, that of trails resulting from air vortices which is generally seen at low altitude in very moist air. If you go to this thread Kismet, you will find some good info on this subject and on the general subject of persistent contrails from commercial aircraft:

| The plane I saw seemed to be much longer than that.. The wings appear to be oversized in this image. |

Hi Tod
I assume the aircraft you saw yesterday would not be similar to the one above.
Comments from other forum users suggest that this is a Lockheed L101.
To the best of my knowledge these aircraft do not come to NZ (certainly not lately any way.)
Note the 3 trails because it has 3 engines (one in the tail)

That will be why, you are comparing 2 different aircraft |
