They started at about 1pm this afternoon, one nice big trail right over the city, and several off to the west that are drifting in.
Im taking pics, looks like they are gearing up for the next few days.
They usually go for a few days to a week or 2 at a time, then they just stop for weeks, sometimes months. |

Hi Smashdracs,
Any idea of what the relative humidity and temperature at cruising altitude is at present over Wellington? |

The heavy spraying is happening southwestish quite far away, but in my line of sight.
It was a near perfect bluesky day right up until they began.
I did get one clear shot of a jet flying over the city. |

| I note the RH is 67 percent at Wellington airport... What we need is a contact at an ATC or some station that gives altitude figures for the aviation industry. Anomalous trails could then be more easily defined. This type of info would give much more meaning to your type of report Smashdracs... Any ideas anyone? |

No spray today!
There is alot of cumulus cloud around, and the wind is Nor West now.
Yesterdays spray event didnt produce a great deal of visible fallout.
The trails mostly appeared to disperse after a few hours, not the very sticky type?
It didnt result in a great deal of muck across the sky.
Sometimes 2 jets can fly over, dropping trails, and those 2 trails can spread over a huge area. Yesterday we had about 20 odd trails, but they didnt manage to coat the whole sky......wrong conditions? |
