|
|
Greeting all,
From the 4th of November 2005 all New Zealand passports being issued are now fitted with some form of RFID chip. The chip contains what is described as the usual information and a digitised photographed of the passport holder.
http://www.dia.govt.nz/web/press.nsf/0/87b380d5390e3b1fcc2570ae00114c3f?OpenDocument
In essence I am not opposed to these E-Passports, but I do have serious reservations about the lack of technical information supplied by Internal Affairs concerning the exact nature of these particular RFID chips, how they function and what information they contain.
So, to satisfy my curiosity I wrote to the Minister of Internal Affairs requesting more information about these E-Passports.
Here is a copy of my letter to the Minister.
I will post any response.
Cheers

hi wayne,
welcome!
excellent letter to the minister. your questions are all very relevant. i, like you, find it extremely distressing that new zealand citizens require these database chips at all. i am american, and do not look forward to my next passport from the warmongering empire either. but it doesn't matter. all freemason controlled trilateralists nations are for all intents and puroses, pretty much the same these days. in fact, one can't really tell them apart, except for the accents and colloquailisms heard about.
i would be surprised if you get direct answers to "all" or really, any of your questions for that matter. but, let's see if this sham called democracy can whip some up... :)
cheers-

Hello
Thanks for your comments Hiero, Melody and Deano,
My curiosity was raised after reading the Internal Affair E-Passport FAQ. Bearing in mind when I intend buying a product, say a new computer for instance, I like to research the technical details before I make a decision to purchase that item. I also ensure and expect it to be accompanied by a motherboard manual and other information outlining the technical details of that product.
In my opinion the E-Passport lacks this “technical manual” and we are expected to pay a premium price for this silicon laced beauty. Internal Affairs should at least credit the public with enough intelligence to be able to digest technical details of these RFID tags had it been contained in the FAQ.
I am optimistic of a reply from the Minister.
Cheers

LETTER TO STEVEN TINDALL - MANAGING DIRECTOR OF THE WAREHOUSE
Incidentally I also read the Herald article about RFID live trials The Warehouse may possibly conduct before Christmas:
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/story.cfm?c_id=3&ObjectID=10349718
Being an inquisitive person with more than a passing interest in EPC/RFID I decided I would like to attend one of these “live trials” so emailed The Warehouse shortly after the herald article appeared and again a week later because I did not get a reply. I am still waiting for a response.
I am a patient individual, but there are limits. So I put pen to paper and wrote directly to Steven TINDALL the founder and Managing Director of The Warehouse. I have attached a copy of the letter to him here:
Cheers

RESPONSE TO MY LETTER TO STEVEN TINDALL
Greeting to all,
Just to let you know that on 26 November I received an initial response letter (udated) to my letter to Steven Tindall.
In the letter from K1W1, the office of Steven Tindall they confirm that RFID is a project being undertaken by The Warehouse.
However as Steven Tindall has moved away from The Warehouse and involves himself with Tindall Foundation projects, he has passed my letter to Owen McCall, General Manager of the IS Department to consider.
I await his response.
Regards
