What a completely bizarre situation...
We now live in a New Zealand where the kids at the school at the end of our street aren't allowed outside without a sunhat on, even in the middle of winter; their mothers block the entire street with their vehicles from as early as 2pm as they wait to collect them so they won't have to risk walking home; school principals have been known to have kids camp on school grounds and order in fish and chips rather than risk a field trip or cooking on a gas stove; the school swimming pool is almost a distant memory; concrete is fast disappearing from children's playgrounds and ACC offers 'falls prevention workshops' for caregivers of preschoolers to help parents prevent falls to young children around the home. Soon it'll be compulsory for all children to wear a helmet as they go about the normal course of their lives :!:
Yet... all this coddling and protecting and preventing having become so dangerously ingrained (will such children have any physical skills at all as they reach adulthood?), we have some Christchurch schools holding 'Fear Factor' competitions in which children are eating raw offal??!! and food poisoning rates are said to be soaring... WTF?
Where is the real education? What about the lessons in food handling and avoiding food related illness?
Apparently the incidence of food poisoning has risen sharply in recent years. Is it any wonder? :-s

good one mel,
maybe it's part of the educational elite's social engineering. preparing the way for our children to do as their told... even in the most illogical or unhealthy of circumstances.. guess that would engender the adults of the future to finally turn off that "little voice of reason" when they finally throw down the gauntlet and side with the enemy of god and man. |

what is not funny though, is my reading in the christchurch press yesterday that the group responsible was a "baptist youth group" that appears to organize school activities for numerous schools down here. oy vay. one wonders what a mongrel mob youth group would have the kids do? (probably walk home unsupervised) |
