Australian Authorities have deported American peace activist Scott Parkin.
Mr Parkin was escorted out of Australia after ASIO and the Department of Immigration determined that he was a security risk.

The Department of Immigration will not confirm whether Mr Parkin is being deported.
Meanwhile, lawyers for Mr Parkin say he still does not know the grounds for his deportation.
Julian Burnside QC spoke to Mr Parkin yesterday and says he has not been accused of breaking any law.
"It is not suggested he's broken any Australian law, nothing that he's been seen to do involved any violence," he said.
"What exactly is it that he's supposed to have done? If he hasn't broken the law, why is he being kicked out of the country? If he has broken the law, why hasn't he been charged so that he can defend himself?"
He says it is possible Mr Parkin will now be banned from returning to Australia.
To add insult to injustice, Mr Parkin has been handed a bill for nearly $11,000 for his deportation.

I have to pay about $800 for my stay at the Melbourne Assessment Centre. I have to pay about another $10,000, or I've been billed for another $10,000 for my passage back to the United States and for the passage of two escorts from the Victoria Correctional Agency and their return back to Australia and also paying for their accommodations and they're staying here in lovely Los Angeles until Monday and I'm paying for that.

PHILIP RUDDOCK, FEDERAL ATTORNEY-GENERAL: There was an adverse assessment. The visa was cancelled, lawfully. When the visa was cancelled, the visa was lawfully detained. The person was removed from Australia. That is a natural outcome of a person that has no lawful entitlement to be here.
...There are a lot of reasons why ASIO assessments have to be protected. Often it relates to the need to protect sources of intelligence information.
This is a worrying development for Civil Rights and freedoms in Australia and this issue directly affects New Zealand too as Mr. Parkin was due to travel onwards to New Zealand - but now cannot.

No doubt those of us who keep an eye on these things are aware of Australia's new 'anti-terror' based police powers. Now police can covertly search someone's home without a warrant, hold people for two weeks without charge, carry out random searches on the man in the street without any kind of justification at all - it even made TV3's news last night...
The Commonwealth Games (or the friendly games as it has been called) 'compound' was described as a detention camp styled facility. Melbourne will be patrolled by a heavy military presence during the event.
Meanwhile in the UK this unstoppable police state machine marches on:

Britain's top police officer was accused last night of paving the way for "Judge Dredd law" by proposing that officers should be allowed to by-pass the courts and confiscate driving licences, seize vehicles and issue anti-social behaviour orders on the spot.
The Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair said "modernisation" of the force should be carried forward by introducing "an escalator of powers" for the dispensing of instant justice.
