Former Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Tommy Thompson, who served in the Bush administration's first term, recently joined the board of directors of Florida-based Applied Digital. Applied Digital is the owner of VeriChip, the company that specializes in making implantable radio frequency identification chips (RFID) for both people and pets.

On July 31, London's The Business reported that Thompson "is putting the final touches to a plan that could result in US citizens having [an RFID] chip inserted under their skin." Scott Silverman, CEO of Applied Digital, told WebMD Medical News on July 27 that "some 2,000 people worldwide are using" his company's implants. "But," the WebMD report noted, "soon he expects that millions of people will get VeriChip implants every year."...

If this socialist healthcare scheme is allowed to pass, and Applied Digital succeeds in partnering with government, then Americans will be seduced into accepting a "seamless" nationalized healthcare system. But those who participate will also end up with a medical ID implant that will undoubtedly morph into a mandatory national ID...

Perhaps this is inevitable - I don't know. I think the US has developed enough sense of justification to break through a lot of the public opinion barriers necessary to ensure this program will succeed. I hope that New Zealanders (who are inevitably and eventually affected by what occurs in the US and around the world) will have the courage to fight such proposals, should they ever reach our shores...

It's also important to remember that also being developed are digital delivery systems for medication via these kinds of devices. Couple that with the US administration's mandatory mental health screening and their ties with the pharmaceutical industry and you have one big recipe for enforced and automatic medication...

Hi Mel,

I'm not sure if this is the best place for this info, but your posting reminded me of it...

Did you know that it is formal National Party policy to:

Quote:
Take DNA from everyone arrested.
DNA testing can solve many more crimes. We must support Police by expanding this tool.

National will expand Labour’s limited DNA testing provisions by testing every person arrested. If they are convicted, their DNA will be added to the database, otherwise the sample will be destroyed.

Oh boy! Is this every slippery-slope material!!!!

So, under a National Government - which we may still yet get after yesterday's General Election - you don't even have to be convicted by a court of any criminal activity to be forcibly DNA tested, just picked up by the cops and formally 'arrested'.

The policy even openly states that this is an expansion of "...Labour’s limited DNA testing provisions..."

My question is, how long will it take before this policy is further 'extended' so that samples from people who are not convicted, or are even acquitted are none-the-less added to the database?

THIS IS DANGEROUS POLICY PEOPLE... VERY DANGEROUS!!

Yes I did know that Colin, and I agree - slippery slope material indeed! :? I have no doubt that samples taken from those who are not convicted will be added to the database eventually. The government already operates very much on opt-out type principles (rather than opt-in) - the National Cervical Smear Screening Programme Register for example.

All women are added to this national register and their information and results sent to the register automatically, any time they have a smear test. I'm sure many women are probably unaware of this and I'm not sure what the policy regarding informing them is. They have an option to opt off. Recent rules require them to fill out a withdrawal application. Even after this, details are not removed from the register, but names and other identifying information are retained on the database, including the fact that a woman has opted off. Health practitioners advise women that even if they have opted off, every time they have a smear test, they should be sure and specifically state that results not be sent to the register.
The National Immunisation Register is similar. You must opt off, unless of course, you have had the meNZB vaccination, in which case there is no opt off at all.
