It has transpired that many of our posters like to upload sequences of images to the Photo Gallery. There are some important points to be aware when making posts to the gallery, particularly if you want a sequence to appear in the correct order.

HOW THE GALLERY DISPLAYS YOUR IMAGES

1. The gallery displays images by their filename (not by the title they are given). In the following example, the image named image-overlooking-bay.jpg will appear ahead of my-holiday-photo.jpg, regardless of the alphabetical order of the first letter of its title in relation to the 'A Sunny Day' image.

Title: Stunning Sunset
Filename: image-overlooking-bay.jpg (takes precedence)

Title: A Sunny Day
Filename: my-holiday-photo.jpg

NAMING CONVENTIONS

2. Please refrain (where possible) from using uppercase, spaces, commas and other special characters in the filename. If you want to separate words in the filename, use an underscore or a hyphen. Express dates in the filename as numerals..

Image overlooking the bay, Friday the 1st.jpg

is better expressed as:

image-overlooking-the-bay-friday010505.jpg (preferred)
image_overlooking_the_bay-friday_010505.jpg (preferred)

TITLES AND CAPTIONS

3. Please give the image a meaningful and coherent title and a clear and informative caption. Titles may use plain english including spaces.

Title: Stunning Sunset
Filename: image-overlooking-the-bay-friday010505.jpg

or

Title: Overlooking the Bay - Friday the 1st of May
Filename: image-overlooking-the-bay-friday010505.jpg

GETTING YOUR IMAGES TO APPEAR IN SEQUENCE

4. To make sure your images display in sequence, name them in sequence and use 3 digit numerals:

CHECKING

5. Please check your spelling and punctuation. Although we check and adjust your entries, this makes it just that little bit quicker and easier.
