On Monday 19/07/2005,I saw at least 5 planes flying from north to south, along the west coast of south taranaki.
The ct that followed moved in an easterly direction, moving toward and infront of the sun,and a new one would start in the west again.X5
I have photos and should`nt tease you . but as a newbie,I am still trying

Hi and welcome Anna,

It's great to have another observer in that part of the country :-) - it seems to be a 'hotbed' of activity down your way...

If you have any questions or difficulty posting your photos to the gallery, please let us know. Send a private message or email us - we'll be happy to help.

Hi Anna,

Welcome aboard, it will be good to have another "spotter" in the region. Take photos of them whenever you can and give the general direction youre facing.

Hi Anna,

I'm not sure what your level of competency with computers is so I'll keep things simple. If you need more help with the following instructions, feel free to ask.

Now that you are registered to use our forum, your login will also apply to our Photo Gallery. If you have already logged in, you won't need to log in again. At the top of this page in the line of links, next to News, click on the link to Photo Gallery. You can get to the Photo Gallery from any page on Mysterious New Zealand: http://www.mysteriousnewzealand.co.nz/photogallery/

On the photo gallery page, in the row of text links below the main web site links, click on Upload file.

You should see a number of form fields under the heading File Uploads, with Browse buttons beside them. Click on Browse to navigate to where the file resides on your hard drive. Choose the file and click OK in the dialogue box and you should then see a path similar to this in the first field to the left of the browse button:

C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\My Pictures\chemtrails.jpg

A lot of people keep their photos in the My Pictures folder inside My Documents (on a PC, don't know about Macs), however not always. You may have them somewhere else.

Click on the Continue button at the bottom of the box and if your upload was successful, you should see a message: 1 uploads were successful.

Click Continue and add some information about the photo. Preferably, you title and date the file and add a caption. Choose the category from the drop down list - we can re-categorise when we approve the file if you forget to choose it or get the category wrong.

And follow any further instructions. That's about it.

If the photo doesn't upload or you get an error, there are a number of potential issues. It might be that the photo is too large in size to upload or exceeds our gallery limit. If the photo is straight out of a digital camera, it may be too large and you will have to resize it.

Hopefully, all will go well. I should know if you make a successful upload as I will receive a notification email to tell me a photo has been uploaded to the gallery...

Thank you for the pointers Melody.Any other advice ,about photo size would be good.
I have 18 photos in series,as the ct crosses the sky in one computer file .
Can I decrease the size of the pictures, and then send the one file?
ie 1 anna`s photo file
2
3
4
5 throught to 12 ?
thanks again

Hi again Anna,

Thanks for posting those. There were probably a little on the large size yes :-) I will go into the administration area and resize them so that the page won't take so long to download.

I don't like to limit the allowable size on the photos too much as sometimes larger photos can turn up unexpected and interesting elements. I also like new users to have a successful upload experience where possible, the first time they upload, without having error messages thrown at them. However, most users do resize them first which makes the whole process a little more streamlined...

Do you have an image editing application such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or some other app that will allow you to resize and resave the image?

The 18 images you have in one computer file - is that a Photoshop layered file?

What DO you you have? If you have a digital camera, did it come with software, for example?

Hi Melody
I have a Kodak easyshare
This is not so easy for me ,software is not updating as it should,so I have had to remove Kodak software from this machine.
So now I am able to retrive pictures from,my computer/my pictures, etc, which is better than nothing,
.
There is a editing function,in my pictures, and I could email photos at a smaller size.

Hope this makes sense

Hi Anna,

You can also email photos by right clicking on the ones you want to send
and when the menu comes up, choose "send to email". This automatically
resizes them. I have Picture It also but it's not always easy to get a clear
resolution once they are resized.

Hello Anna
I was wondering when someone in the Taranaki area would join up.
Your mountain looked picture perfect on the way to work this morning. So did Ruapehu.
All the best.

I have posted a tutorial for resizing images using a free image processing application called Irfanview. I have posted links and instructions for downloading the app and for resizing an image for the gallery here:
