This report in the New Zealand Herald today simply beggars belief!
| Quote: | American troops fire 250,000 bullets for every local they kill
WASHINGTON - United States forces have fired so many bullets in Iraq and Afghanistan - an estimated 250,000 for every insurgent killed - that American ammunition-makers cannot keep up with demand.
As a result the US is having to import supplies from Israel.

I'd love to see some statistics from someone mathematically minded, but I would be willing to wager that a completely blind person, with no military training at all could average better than 1 kill per 250,000 shots fired!
Is it possible for even the US military to be THIS incompetent???
Personally, I think not. I'd say it is much more likely that the official estimates of those killed by US forces are so inadequate as to be utterly baseless.... simply made-up.
They must have actually killed hundreds of thousands of Afghans and Iraqis.
On the assumption that US soldiers are so incredibly useless, that it takes them 1,000 shots to hit anyone and kill them (and that's 250 times better shots than the official figures)... then they would be responsible for something like FIVE MILLION DEATHS
It is not far from there to genocide and comparisons with the Nazi's during WW2 and with what occurred more recently in Rwanda (while the US watched).
I would like to know the views of other Mysterious New Zealand readers on this one please. |

| What occurs to me about the possible inflation of numbers is to justify the purchase of more amunition for some other reason not being spoken about. |

Hiya Azimuth...
All that DU ammunition is over and above the figures quoted in this article. This was apparently only small arms ammunition...
| Quote: | A US Government report says that US forces are using 1.8 billion rounds of small-arms ammunition a year.
The Pentagon reportedly bought 313 million rounds of 5.56mm, 7.62mm and 50-calibre ammunition last year and paid US$10 million ($14.6 million) more than it would have cost for it to produce the ammunition at its own facilities. |
