Took a couple of images this morning (on my phone unfortunately) of a trail that was forming at around 6.45 this morning. The aircraft(?) wasn't visible to me , but was heading in a north / north west direction. Wasn't moving that fast.
I took a couple more images from work an hour later (on a digital camera this time…) The trail had spread to the south but was still fairly slim in the northerly direction. |

Hi lyra,
Good images for a cell camera. Nice series of shots also.
It wasn't heading up north was it? There has been a lull in CT's up here over the last week!
All the best and Keep Looking Up

Hi Azimuth,
Good news re the lull in activity up your way. Maybe they know you've got your camera aiming skywards 24/7...
I think I might need to carry a digital camera all the time... the images are ok off the phone but i really want some kind of zoom action to I can make the aircraft out... |

Hi Lyra,
I also saw that trail this morning at 7.10 from West Auckland. Took a couple of shots but not as clear as yours and interrupted by it cutting through just above the sun.

lyra,
Good idea, I almost always carry one of my digital camera's with me, you never know what you will see worthy of a photo........even things non CT related.
The skies up here have been clear and blue with a bit of cloud in the afternoons. I've seen several high fliers but not even a hint of a vapour trail seen.
Keep Looking Up

| Hi Bloodhound , that's a great point... I was thinking this morning of checking up on that. for some reason I was thinking on checking the phase of the moon in relation to chem sightings..... maybe we need a chem-sighting database to build up a better picture of when these events happen..could lead to the ability to predict when they will occur next... |

I also saw this trail being formed
I was on the way to work and could see it from Blockhouse bay all the way to the airport. Quite high and differently NOT from Auckland International Airport |
