Just browsing at the NIWA site and located a page where they discuss measurements. There you will find a bulleted sentence reading "In situ sampling of condensation nuclei, aerosols, and soot during aircraft campaigns over the western Pacific".
Does anyone know what aircraft campaigns they are referring to?
The only other reference I found relating to aerosol operations over the western Pacific is a study entitled "Scientists, Ships, and Aircraft Begin Pole-to-Pole Aerosol Study" from 1995 and is located here:
