No Deano
The whales stranding is interesting.
There is a theory that whale strandings can be caused by pain and disorientation resulting from the massively loud sonar that submarines employ. Actually, I wonder whether sound energy might be your weapon of choice if you were trying to initiate earthquakes
There's a couple of websites flicked up on those clips, there might be a lead on the black boxes
It's an angry presentation, not much doubt that the makers think there's enough to back up their stance |

This looks like showing all the signs of conforming to the pattern that has quietly emerged in Australia.
What you end up with, is no local council at al, just a regional office for central government.
I think this would be wonderful if central government was staffed with wise and altruistic beings, like, for instance, Yoda !! With Yoda as supreme emperor, things would go along beautifully.
The reality is, central governments on dirty old planet Earth, tend to become insulated, buffered, and totally out of reach, and totally out of touch, with the people who work to keep them in the very particular lifestyle they require.
There is a certain degree of tolerance of the public at some councils, not much at others. The main instrument of application of public opinion to councils, is the public meeting. These are boring as batpoo in our culture, and have to turn into something more attractive, where boys and girls can meet, food gets a part in it, culture gets promoted.
The mayor of Chch was on the radio over here, saying how his heart was bleeding for his citizens. Didn't really strike the right note.
The "quarter acre pavlova paradise" suburban lifestyle is a hindrance to the development of culture. The absence of nature corridors, the uniformity of the streets and houses, the television and school conduits of crap indoctrination.....let's not buy this model anymore, it's just leading to misery and despair. And ripe for hijackers. In the absence of Yoda, let's build something from grass roots, and keep our government honest and open and in proportion. |

Btw, as expected the memorial contained all the usual ritualistic crap. Didn't watch it all but saw enough of the usual stuff. The site of Parker adorned with all his chains receiving a medal for example was quite disgusting but by no means the only example.
Respect to all the ordinary people affected by the quakes goes without saying of course but now... I've said it anyway. |
