I have friends down there that are still missing. I lived there for 3 years and know the city very well. This has affected me deeply.
I wish all the best for everyone down there but I realise that there is going to be a terrible amount of bad news coming from there over the next week or so.
I do not normally do prayer but with all my feelings of helplessness about this incident, praying is about all I can do for them right now. I have made contact with some of my friends and they are safe but in shock and were not prepared for what has just happened, others are completely silent.
A dark day.... |

Australian "mateship" springs back into life
Australians are racing to help New Zealand because that is what friends do, newspaper editorials across the continent are saying today.
The Brisbane Courier Mail, in its editorial, says New Zealanders were "extraordinarily generous" in supporting Queensland when it was ravaged by floods last month. http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/christchurch-earthquake/4697899/Australian-mateship-springs-back-into-life
Yeah good on those Aussies. 400 personnel sent over here to help. They even sent Australian police over.
This isn't the thread for conspiracy theories about the quake. We will need to start a new one for that after the final body count is made public. It is practically a martial law state down there now and there are some odd coincidences surrounding this event as well... |

Yup smash your on to it, and I don't think there is a conscious being here who doesn't feel the pain of our brothers n sisters on the mainland.
We are all watching and waiting to see what happens.
I also think we ARE seeing "real" people fighting to get to the front of the line to help.
As the saying goes with crises comes opportunity.
Try and stay sane in the event of possible further earth changes. |

| I have spoken to the relevant authorities and the Govt is going to pay for me to move back down there for employment in the rebuild. Going to go at the completion of my course here in Wellington end of June, move down beginning of July provided the accommodation is available... |
