Well just 2 examples of many, many more now and to come anyway...
First one is an absolute classic example of very blatant & obvious Hegellian Dialectic too... sad that so few see it...
As for the second one - "...making people feel safer,"
Ratepayers face 4.9 percent hike STEPHEN FORBES - Western Leader
Last updated 05:00 17/12/2010
Aucklanders are facing a rates rise of up to 4.9 percent in 2011/2012 under the super-city.
Mayor Len Brown mustered support to pass the proposed increase on Monday despite opposition from the Citizens and Ratepayers ticket which was calling for a target of 3.9 percent.
The council's strategy and finance committee was split 10 to 8 in its vote in favour of the mayor's planned maximum rates rise.
This year Waitakere residents received a 3.8 percent rise in council controlled costs and 1.5 percent increase in regional levies.
The Auckland Council's next meeting to discuss its 2011/2012 budget will be in February next year.
Mr Brown says the 4.9 percent figure is a maximum rise and he is keen to make whatever cost savings he can to reduce rates bills for Aucklanders.
"We have already identified millions of dollars in savings and will be looking for more efficiencies," Mr Brown says.
"This increase represents a responsible and sustainable rating level given amalgamation and extra unbudgeted costs."
But he says unfortunately the council is facing high costs including next year's Rugby World Cup, which is will add 2 percent to rates alone.
And Mr Brown says the cost of amalgamating Auckland's local authorities is another added overhead which he says will be felt for the next 30 years.
Whau ward councillor Noelene Raffills voted against the mayor's proposal.
Mrs Raffills and the other Citizens and Ratepayers councillors instead wanted a rise of 3.9 percent.
"The mayor was very disappointed because he wanted everyone to agree," she says.
"But I thought if you start at 4.9 per cent who knows where you will end up.
"I would rather be as close as possible to 3.9 percent."
But she says there are a lot of costs associated with the amalgamation of Auckland's councils that have yet to be added up.
Mayor to look at city's CCTV East And Bays Courier
Last updated 05:00 22/12/2010
Auckland mayor Len Brown plans to review the city's closed circuit television network in a bid to battle crime.
The review is one of the 100 projects he has promised in the first 100 days of the Auckland Council.
CCTV is becoming increasingly popular as a tool to prevent and detect crime as the technology becomes more widespread, sophisticated and cost effective.
The issue for the new council is how best to co-ordinate the use of existing systems and to extend the use of CCTV in association with police, town centres, business associations and residents.
The vast majority of systems operating on Auckland streets are owned by businesses, associations and agencies other than the council.
"The use of CCTV is a proven tool in solving crime and making people feel safer," Mr Brown says.
Actually, it is spelled "Hegelian" although many of the conspiracy blogs spell it the same way you do. I don't imply anything by that; just sayin'.
Yes, it is sad that so few people can see that the debate surrounding the rates is "an absolute classic example of very blatant & obvious Hegellian[sic] Dialectic".
Perhaps you could elaborate on what, in this example, constitutes the Hegelian triad of thesis, antithesis and synthesis.
