WA base set to keep eye on space junk

Western Australia is set to host a new multimillion-dollar US defence base to that will help keep watch on dangerous space junk.

US Defense Secretary Robert Gates is poised to announce the base when he visits Australia next week with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, The West Australian newspaper reported on Saturday.

It is understood the base is likely to be built at the top secret Harold E Holt Naval communications station at Exmouth, in a major expansion of the US military footprint within Australia.

This article caught my eye a couple of weeks ago and I immediately started searching around the internets for further information. The first thing I dug into was the top secret Harold E Holt Naval communications station at Exmouth.
This turned up some very interesting photos and stories of UFOs and fireballs in the sky.

There is certainly a lot of mystery surrounding the place that America wants to build this new base at. Pine Gap is another base that provides hours of interesting reading on the internet...

I started looking into that base a while back when looking at antenna arrays and the like and uncovered the same info (at other sites) about planes dropping out of the sky etc. Was quite intrigued by the interesting geometric layouts then too :wink:
