Freelance researcher and writer, Jenese James, kindly sent this video footage two days ago and wrote:
“The date was the 19th July, 2010. I remember taking my mum out to the glen that morning – and coming back and was annoyed to see such a polluting site – so took some stills, then forgot about them until I went down to the library that afternoon and then saw the other ones. The sky was brilliant blue that day, until those trails ruined it.
Besides the chemical context – politicians and citizens should be concerned about the level of cloud and visual pollution these things are leaving in their wake. They should also find out why.
I rang the airport that day to see what planes where in the air.
They didn’t know, but said that day planes had been circling around because they could not land in Christchurch, which is miles away.
They all come from the north – no one will identify what was flying in the sky that day according to the woman at the airport, so it’s insane to try to track them, but that could just be here in Nelson.
I think maybe we need to identify what craft are doing this.”
Jenese lives about 10 minutes drive away from Nelson.
