A NZ connection - GS1 EPCglobal (RFID). Sorry if somebody's already mentioned these guys somewhere else (I didn't have time to check back through threads).

From their own website -

GS1 EPCglobal (RFID)

EPCglobal is leading the development of industry-driven standards for the Electronic Product Code™ (EPC) to support the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) in today’s fast-moving, information rich, trading networks.

EPCGlobal is a subscriber-driven organisation comprised of industry leaders and organisations focused on creating global standards for the EPCglobal Network™.

Their goal is increased visibility and efficiency throughout the supply chain and higher quality information flow between companies and their key trading partners.

Lots of links to lovely articles & pdf files on their site including ones with titles like "Wi-Fi Tags Reduce Risk of Falling at Elder-Care Facility" and "Ultimate Control At IBM Facility". Here's a picture of the wi-fi tags the elderly wear from that first mentioned article -

And here's a line from it - "Faced with limited resources in the aged-care industry, Samarinda's chief executive, Tanya Gilchrist, wanted a system that would reduce the time employees spent searching for residents..." (emphasis added)

When you realise that RFID is essentially asset management and start seeing more & more RFIDs attached to human beings... need I say more?
