Greetings
I took a lot of images of the below formations as they developed ...
I’m suspect about the thin ‘busy’ (looks like vibrating) cloud and the way it forms ...
As I have mentioned a few times ... those ‘seams’ in these clouds intrigue me ... why is this happening? ... anyone have an idea?
24 November
27 November
A large band of 'mammantus' (hope I got that right) - drifting slowly east ... apparently quite rare (according to Jim Hickey who was sent an image from a local) - usually indicate tornados.
... it's tail end .. looking west - Bryant Range in background.

| We've certainly been getting some very odd and varied cloud formations up here in Auckland too EVERY day. Always we get those extremely rippled clouds. No matter what the conditions or what way the wind blows (although it's mostly a prevailing westerly) we'll get clear skies, then some "normal" looking cloud and then always followed up above that with all that messed up striated stuff, and a lot of big patches with the same kind of seams in them like your pictures. |

| Oh and you'll probably notice too that there's always that very distinct purple and bluey green "oil slick" colouration just about everyday in that cloud too. Looks like one or two of your photos are showing this slightly. That's one thing I definitely see as way more prevalent these days than ever before no matter what causes it. |
