Hehe! I wasn't wrong! Check the skies in these next shots. Taken between around 5.30-6.30pm tonight at 4 different locations between Glendene & Glen Eden. Shows some sketchy-looking stuff observed this arvo that convinced me there was some activity going on and then some trails of the usual short(ish) kind originating in the usual area behind the Waitakere Ranges (and just off the west coast) before drifting across West Auckland.
This was pretty damn obvious stuff so where's the photos from other West Aucklanders?! :shock: I was quite busy around the time I took these and was ducking in and out of a few places to snap them. Wish I'd been in a better place with free time to watch the whole lot take place as they were laid. Anyway you can see remnants of older trails all spread out, a little short one to the right of most pictures that spreads slightly and a longer one (the really bright one on the horizon at sunset) that was laid last and spreads only slightly too. This last one was laid while I popped into a place in Glen Eden so I just missed it - you can see where it isn't in the photos to a point and then in the next ones it is, bugger!

I guess you could say it's a little bit of a puzzle why we are constantly getting these short trails in West Auckland as opposed to the normal long ones. At least it seems even more obvious that something's a little dodgy though as they're just so precisely laid in the exact same areas every time and usually there's about 2 or 3 all laid within about half an hour or less. It definitely appears to be a concerted & concentrated effort to do something each time. They are also nearly always accompanied by that ripple-like effect either at the time they're being done or shortly after. Today's example was basically massive multiple ripple effects over a wide area of sky before, during and after the trails were laid.
The few long trails that I have seen up here that resemble what's seen down country are different in that they've gone right across the centre of Auckland and roughly from east to west (or NE to SW) spanning the whole sky.

Yep, always in that vicinity :wink: I think I made a comment a while back about the old Planet X theory - trying to obscure it's presence at that time of the day when it might be more visible - but that's a pretty far-fetched one imho! :lol: "Someone" knows why this is happening and there's plenty of speculation based on positioning, time of day, etc. One thing though - just look at the "mess" in that sky - all kinds of weird patterns - that's a common denominator.
