Kia ora
... theory standing up ... the pre-front conditions are prevailing and so are PTs - be it natural or planned ??? or made to look natural - a planned natural looking occurrence - disguise ... mmmm.
Here is the first installment for the day ... click click busy... not just PTs - also those suspicious dense WHITE cloud masses that have the 'colour' fringes and 'seams' of space ... etc ... cirrus wisps / sylphs forming ...
... 10:11am ... facing NW ... two visible PTs - southbound and not very old (wind morphs them quickly)
... 10:21am ... facing N ... fresh PT - the plane is still over the valley ... can you find another PT?
... 10:22am ... facing N ... I suspect that small streak of broken cloud toward the mid of image is a remnant of a PT ...
I have heaps more to go through and set up for next post ... later ... |

... next installment ...
Images 1 - 5 show how this particular PT behaved -15 mins ... strong wind up high by looks.
1. 1:54pm .. facing NW ... southbound PT 'in progress'.
2. 1:55 ...
3. 2:03 ...
4. 2:04 ...
5. 2:09 ...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
6. 2:11pm ... facing N ... northbound PT in progress - albeit a spluttering one. (brightness adjusted)
7. 2:20pm ... a dense cloud mass and a wavy patch of cirrus? joined and hung around that general part of the valley for over an hour ... not a lot of change in shape - had a rippling look happening - some tinges of colour around the fringes, especially where they joined ... NB - to the right you can see the PT from above image (# 6)
8. ... closer ...
9. ... closer again ...

Great stuff! Lots of oilslick colours there very similar again to lots I've seen here on the same type of cloud.
Yep we had a weirded out cloud day today again in Auckland after a week of almost completely clear skies & very settled calm weather. Lots of different weird shapes among the cirrus up high all day long with the best stuff mid-afternoon. No trails observed. |

Picture 6 is interesting, the nature of the PT. 'Spluttering' or rippling? another effected skyscape.
Plenty of lenticular formations over and around Wellington today. Dont see them too often. Could see the PT's out over your way Ruapaka late afternoon.
Any stoners spot the kiwi shape in the clouds 8) ?
The PT is cutting through where its neck should be. Its even got little feet. |
