Witnessed an amazing lightning storm out off the east coast of Auckland last night that continued well after midnight. Posted in the "Our Weather" forum about it.

Reason for posting here is the photos that were posted on the Weather Watch Centre website at 1.00am this morning. They show scenes that look like a snow storm from the middle of winter but are actually from hail that came down on the Kaimais late Wednesday as part of this storm as it swept across that region. Here's a couple of them -
