During this period (busy as or cloud cover) not many chances to for serious obs ... random sightings of persistent trails - mostly old, drifting by from the west. Observing persistent trails, contrails, and no trails on same day.
1. 15 Jan 09 -10:11am - facing NW. (brightness adjusted)
2. 15 Jan 09 -10:14am - facing NW. The same persistent trail as above with a plane with 'long' contrail to the west of trail. (see the segments of tapering trail)
3. 15 Jan 09 -10:15am - facing NW. A close up of the plane in image #2.
4. 15 Jan 09 -10:48am - facing N. A freshly laid persistent trail. (the twist is in pretty much the same place as earlier trail on same path - image above)

5. 16 Jan 09 - 12:49pm - facing NNE. I did not observe any trails being laid this day ... numerous obs of drifting bands such as in this image ... activity further west of here (Nelson area).

6. 21 Jan 09 - 11:22am - facing NE ... persistent trail segment morphing - taking on a sylph like shape ...
7. 21 Jan 09 - 8:01pm - facing N. Two varieties of persistent trail. One rapidly dissipating and segmenting, the other - a spreading, drifting band. I have seen segments change dramatically - form and colour - especially the twisted segments.
8. 21 Jan 09 - 8:07pm - facing W. Another quickly dissipating and segmenting southbound trail.
