Place : Christchurch , New Zealand.

I was testing a homemade longrange photographic flash equipment.
It was working quite well - I had managed to get the thing working and it
had quite a decent range on it. I had just finished and was packing up - when
for some reason I just happened to look up towards the east.
An aircraft swooped down - leveled out roughly about 100 feet above ground
level . It gave me the impression that it was gliding - as there was
no sound.I used to fly light planes so I can say for certain that it was going very fast- about as fast as the old RNZAF Skyhawks in 'tiki tour' mode
The nose section up to the cockpit looked exactly like a F117 and was coloured a darkish grey - from the cockpit back it was a deep black and it sloped down ala the F117 - however it was much much longer - at least twice the length of a F117( maybe more). I didn't notice any tail fins as the rear fuslage was a deep black.
I got one good side view look at it and then it was gone.
If I had flown that low I would have got chewed out by the CAA and the Christchurch Air Traffic control.
It was military for sure - apart from that I haven't a clue.

I have a couple of mates from Auckland who are avid surfers and took many weekend trips to the Coromandel (During the late 90s).
One day they had hiked into the bush towards the Northern tip of the peninsular and were sitting atop a ridge overlooking a large valley and they swear black and blue that 2 F117s flew through the valley below them.

It is rumoured that the stealth jets actually have an anti-gravity propulsion system that is engaged shortly after take off from the ground which could explain the lack of sound with your sighting.
Anyway, point is you are not the first person who claims to have seen these things here.
