Yep, only a contrail spotted today although because they're quite rare as well thought I'd post a few shots while the lads down south are having a break :wink:
Btw, looks like there was some serious spraying activity going on last Saturday 27 Dec 2008. From the top of the Kaimais looking west we saw a large persistent trail being laid late afternoon over towards Hamilton area and there was a very thick haze covering most areas to the north & south of all the view we could see. When I say "thick" I mean thick too and it wasn't fog! There were also reports of a really vibrant corona with visible colours around the sun on the same day from family in Auckland. Alas the photos we took from the Kaimais just weren't clear enough from that distance with the camera we used.
Anyways these nice contrail shots were taken from Glen Eden today (4 Jan 2009) at around 3.00pm with the aircraft travelling approx a SSW-to-NNE direction. We had a few slightly clearer ones on someone's new 8.2MP camera but ahem, they got deleted by mistake so just the trusty old 4MP ones I'm afraid!
