Firstly, we get HEAPS of this kind of "cloud" in Auckland (taken around 2.00pm) -
And secondly, here's a bunch of shots attempting to show that pinky-purple and greeny oil slick type colouration that's been in the clouds a lot lately. See I told you we see it again and here it is right on cue again the very next day! ruapaka & schadow2012, is this what you're seeing too? Taken about 5.00pm through a sunglass lens for obvious reasons -
Here's a bit more detail from "oil slick" photo no. 3 that hopefully shows up the colour a little better, although I know my little camera won't properly do it justice -
And here's just a single little example of the weird and wonderful shapes we see all over the place at the moment (taken around 5.30pm) -

I should add that when that oil slick colouration is at it's brightest and on clouds viewed very close to the sun, there's nearly always a shimmery metallic-like sheen evident on cloud closest to it. You can just see this in some of the shots above - look at the first oil slick photo and to the bottom right of the sun. Again, always clearer to the eye than in photos from my little camera :wink:
