Man I was sooo bummed today! Saw at least a couple of trails out west (West Auckland) and then about 4.00pm we had the most amazing "oil slick" coloured spread out trail cloud I've ever seen! Not the chunk of rainbow seen in earlier photos but a wash of pinky-purple & green mostly very much like the oil slick effect I describe above and over a wide area. The closer to the sun, the more brilliant the colour.
As the sun was quite bright there was a lot of glare and I noticed that with sunglasses off it appeared rather faint but with sunglasses on man, it was SOOOOO vivid!
And guess what - had my camera with me but when I turned it on "No Memory Card"! Yay, left it in my printer :cry:
I was soo hoping someone else in Auckland saw all this stuff cos it would've been some amazing photos. Hoping to see something similar again (and I'm sure we will!).
