Greetings ...
Day started with whispy cirrus streaks moving in from the west. Sun halo visible for some time during mid morn to early avo.
I observed many persistent trails on 14th - only a few of which I actually saw being laid. Persistent trails, and segments of, drifted eastward across the sky-scape. A good deal of spreading, and forming into bands of imitation looking cloud - more so than seen of late.
Also to be seen, were persistent trails that did not spread into bands - stringy, but remain in sky and drift with other 'cloud' matter.
I saw one aircraft with a 'contrail' (or what appeared to look like a contrail) ... thought about the 'variety' of trails that can occur in a small patch of sky ... this trail reminded me of those 'bright/ luminous type trails that have been seen before. (image below)
Persistent trails preceding weather fronts?? ... The rain arrived last night and is still raining - rain warnings for west of here - hope we don't get an encore of the rain we got a couple of weeks ago.

10:44am - Lower Pelorus Valley - facing NE. Fresh persistent trail and cirrus induced sun halo.
11:39am Lower Pelorus Valley - facing west.
A fresh southbound persistent trail under-laying an older persistent trail. (brightness adjusted)
.... FOR A CLOSER LOOK ....
11:43am - Lower Pelorus Valley - facing NNW.
The only 'contrail' I observed on 14th ... large aircraft ... and other thing ?? - many references to, and images of this type of 'object'. (brightness adjusted)
Smashdracs - hi :-) ... full zoom and steady as poss ... camera did the rest. I was pleased with the photo, when on PC even pleaseder with object.
Could be that time again ... I always check my photos for 'anything else', and I haven't seen anything I can't identify as natural for quite some time. Crakka this is something you could be keeping an eye on ... you are taking lots of images ... you might be surprised - I was when I started to look. Something else to get hooked on ... :twisted:

Wow yeah! Nice shots again ruapaka!
I definitely need a higher megapixel camera in order to get any kind of clarity, especially if it's to be photos of aircraft or "other" things! I'd love to start capturing stuff like that! Have really only "sighted" one thing that I couldn't explain just by the way it moved and one other that I could've sworn was a light aircraft that went behind a small cloud but didn't appear on the other side! Both of those were kinda strange. The only other sighting that was a bit "different" recently was that pink glow around the commercial aircraft as it passed through some "cirrus" that I posted about the other night - have never seen anything like that before.
