This image was taken on 6 December - 6:44pm - facing NW. The sweeping band of 'no cloud' is what interests me .... (upper center area) .... I have been seeing this phenomena a bit lately and am wondering if anyone else has seen the like .. I have previously photographed a straight rectangular band of 'no cloud'.
This image was taken on 7 December - 6:19pm - facing W. I have not seen such a display of this cloud type in the valley before (or anywhere else except the net). Virga I believe ... preceding some cooler cloud cover.

| Yeah we get a lot of the sort of thing you're talking about with the first photo ruapaka - in fact I'd go as far as to say every day when we don't have overcast conditions (cos then we just can't see it)! That second photo is really impressive! Definitely noticing "different" stuff in the skies nearly every day lately and I'm pretty sure it's not just because I'm looking more - I've always watched the skies and generally relied on my own instincts with weather for many, many years but things are different more recently... |
