As the subject says, you just know there's something wrong with this picture right? A stadium in West Auckland, a place where physical health is to be celebrated but who are the 2 main sponsors? Well it's just the leading drug company in NZ (just look at the great (?) logo  ) and The Trusts (trust?) who have the complete monopoly on the sale of alcohol (and administration of gaming machines) in Waitakere City. Sigh........

Well it's pretty obvious from that picture I'd say. As with any corrupt capitalist hierarchical system, the bigger and more powerful you are the bigger, more strategically placed (think pyramid) and more overwhelming your symbols of that power are in order to stamp home your dominance both physically & psychologically.

What dominates the picture above? Although "douglas" is in lower case font it is actually the same sized font, or almost, from what I can see as the main subject "TRACK & FIELD". The capsule symbol actually rises above everything else - the dominance of drugs over the physical ability of human beings/subjects? The Trusts symbol also is bigger and higher than any of the main subject lettering. The local government/governance sign is the lowest symbol of all, even below the "tickets" sign denoting where you spend your money, and only says "Key Funding Partner", hardly a sign that government either local or otherwise is really that important in the scheme of things, especially when it comes to your wellbeing.

As soon as I looked across at this scene it hit me how blatant the psychology of all this was although most people will never see it. You guys on the other hand are here because you already know this stuff  Try telling what I said above to the average zombie and see the reaction you get... :?

I think you'll find that's because it's the Douglas Pharmaceuticals logo...

Originally I was going to include this photo with the above. They're just across the road from the stadium

Like schadow says - they're all over the place - the shopping area in Henderson central is full of them now but you have to look to see them. That one in the photo is obviously pointed at the intersection so is more likely a "traffic" monitoring camera. Just thought I'd highlight it for fun

What I have noticed though is cameras like schadow mentioned on motorways. Also it looks like more and more on-ramps are getting "control systems" on them. For example, the waterview on-ramp going north now has a ridiculous traffic light on it where 2 lanes go into one. It intermittently stops traffic and then goes green with a sign saying something like one vehicle per green signal. It really is pathetic and slows traffic right down for no realistic gain in traffic safety or anything else. I'm actually wondering if it's just the start of getting us used to toll roads as I definitely think all our motorways are going to go this way soon/eventually. Most of the new road "improvements" (ha, what a joke) are designed to slow car traffic down to a crawl and make it as uncomfortable & impractical as possible while buses & trains whizz by. WATCH THIS SPACE I RECKON!!!
