Cloud formations early this morning were amazing! First thing before all the mid-morning cloud cover we had blue skies punctuated by some unreal looking formations. With a decent camera and more time on my hands I'm sure I could have captured some really nice shots as there was tons of interesting stuff up there this morning but the reality of work related time constraints is obviously my limit! Anyway here's a few photos of just one area of sky taken from my early morning jobsite before I was able to nab an organic coffee on my way back past home and post 'em up. The pan shot looks a little more impressive fullsized but here's a resized version to fit the forum -

And the individual shots that make up that pan -

Yep' when we were in the midst of the phenomonen here in wellington some very out of the ordinary flight paths were observed. Its weird because there is a distinct abscence of activity down this way these days......

Interesting to note both of the airforces 757's are in the usa for extended maintenance at the same time... wondering if they are retrofitting them with anything..

We still get loads of fake cloud drifting over from Marlborough but not much in the way of trails happening lately.
December is the month it happens here though, usually around the 15/16th and when they start they can hammer the sky for 2 weeks solid every day. I expect it to be the same this year.

Hi schadow2012 and others and thanks for the feedback. Today's skies were very interesting indeed and low & behold around 3pm I actually witnessed a trail being laid out west (viewed from Mt. Albert). Unfortunately my little 4mp camera just wasn't up to a clear image at that distance but I did snap a shot of the same trail 2 hours later from Pt Chev that can actually be seen in the shot - see the reporting area.
