Mysteries, Chemtrails, Aerosols :: Mysterious NZ

Been a bit quiet up here lately, or at least, we've had our fair share of easterly winds and ample if not almost complete cloud cover most days over the last few weeks. However, I was out at Bethell's Beach late last night staring up at the clearest night sky I've seen in ages - bloody nice out there without all the city lights! Then when I got up first thing this morning, walked outside and saw a clear sky and felt a light westerly breeze I thought to myself "Hmmm, wonder what we'll see today?". Let's see....

Around midday saw this dirty great "cirrus" (?) "cloud" as I arrived at a job. As you can see in the pan shot it was spread out across the whole sky. My customer was also quite impressed by it and he even mentioned he had photographed "quite an impressive" one of 2 jets together leaving persistent trails one time and had even seen one "loop" a trail over Auckland in the past (fly over and then loop back towards the direction it came from leaving a trail in the sky)! Good to hear other people out there also look up and record what's going on -

This 2-shot pan was way better and should have been a great 6-shot pan but I (ahem) accidently deleted the last 4 shots on the camera :oops: (what a di*k!) -



About an hour and 45 later drove down the road and saw some familiar "liney" cloud formations in a familiar area of sky following a familiar orientation. Not a greatly clear photo on my little camera and I probably should have cropped them but ah well it's nice blue sky and I was enjoying it for what it was worth :) The one right above the white-roofed house in the centre is the most visible -



About 6pm out at Kumeu, quite a few aircraft both small and large around. Dunno if the airforce (Whenuapai base just down the road) were flying the larger (non-prop) ones back & forth but sighted at least one of them flying out towards the west coast, then back south, then back out west again. Anyway, here's a pic of that familiar refracted light effect, quite impressive this time and right in the middle of a very messy sky. It hung around for ages this time too until the sun was completely down, changing shape slightly over that time from vertical to more horizontal if that makes sense. A few interesting things here - the vertical straight line "trail-like" "cloud" above the effect in the middle and the 2 objects numbered on the main picture. No. 1 was an aircraft that I saw by eye flying west but I only noticed no. 2 after uploading to the pc. By the looks it's either another aircraft or a bird (seems closer than the sighted aircraft) but who knows -



And also for what it's worth, here's blow-ups of the objects but they're such crap quality you can't really see anything (1 & 2 in order) -





Then around 7.40pmish (you can see the lights are already on!) taken from Westgate you can hopefully see the light effect just about in the centre of this shot. It was clearly visible by eye although it had faded somewht by the time I got here after watching it while driving. This is not just a pinky glow from the setting sun (although that did get more intense around the whole sky after this was taken) and by eye you could discern the slight yellowish colour here with the pink as similar to the first shot but now weaker. Hmm, looking at the shot now it's not super clear in the reduced size photo but it's taken me so long to post all this I'll leave it up anyway :P -
