Prompted by ruapaka's previous post on cloud types & formations I decided to post the following 4 images that initially I wasn't going to bother with. I'm aware that my moniker is appearing a lot lately as the latest comment on several threads and don't want to seem to be spamming just for the sake of it
By my observation Auckland has been experiencing exactly the same or at least very similar cloud types on just about a daily basis lately to what he has posted.
These 4 were taken on Labour Day, Mon 27 Oct 2008 around mid-morning, 10ish I think. Earlier we were out in the garden looking towards the west coast and there were numerous long line-like "cloud formations" running north-to-south. At initial observation they were fairly thin, straight lines but by the time they had drifted over us they had spread out to what you can see in the photos. I wasn't going to bother taken any photos but as they appeared to be fairly evenly spaced and still quite line-like we decided to snap 'em and see what the images looked like.
These were snapped in order of appearance one after the other and panoramically show the sky sweeping from right to left -

I should add that our initial observation was from a different perspective to the one seen above but we watched the progression of these clouds as we travelled to the location where these were taken prompting me to get the camera out of the car when we arrived there. If you look at the formations there's definitely some interesting features that I've only just noticed now after posting them ie. double line effect in the first one, circular shape forming in the second, etc
Nice work, interesting pics, keep a good watch on the sky when you spot that type of cloud, Im not sure its altogether natural or normal formations if you will.
