Spring doing its thing - busy time for all creatures ...:-)
Yesterday (2 Oct.) the sky was pretty much cloudless until mid avo ... I noticed two 'lines' of cloud that looked suspicious so I took a photo (see first image below). 8 mins later I took another look and another photo - clouds had materialised - a dense looking one and a whispy one ... the dense one ? 8 mins for a reasonably dense looking cloud to form ?? no other clouds around ?? (ref 2nd image)
Traveled to Blenheim mid avo - Wairau Valley was clear to the south - to the northwest a weather front was approaching with messy cirrus preceding it. Most of the cirrus cloud cleared or passed by early evening. I did not observed any trails until on our way home at sunset - and they were of the persistent kind .... (ref 3rd image)
I observed contrails, or no trails over last couple of days - on Wednesday 1st, most craft had no trails .... in the Pelorus area ..... I often see suspicious looking cloud forms in the distant west - Nelson region ... also Blenheim (Wairau Valley) can be blitzed with persistent trails yet be clear in the Pelorus area.
Driving up the Kapiti coast after work yesterday, I saw some intriguing 'sylph'
type formations all the way up the costline. Didnt have my camera unfortuantely but they looked like the traditional 'whispy winged bird / entity' type.
They were bordering a small patch of haze that extended down toward your area...
