I spent most of today in Blenheim. ... without a camera ... still kicking myself.
Persistent trails galore ... traveling north and south ... one persistent trail had a hook at its south end (I've seen this before in the Wairau Valley) - I think it is evidence of a turning point (some folk have seen craft turning sharp angles, etc) - the trail was one of 3 very close together and the dissipation rate indicated north-south-north. I could see trails all the way up the Wairau Valley and over toward the Pelorus. A Butler, did you see anything today?
Top of the South had a hammering today ............ and it drifted westward - lower North Island ..... :(

Yep,between 3.30and 4pm we were watching it.At one stage 3 planes flying paralell and all within minutes of each other all flying north. And the westernmost plane had that hook in its trail.A very busy day overall ,but I have yet to replace my broken camera.All the trails drifting toward Wellington and the Kapiti coast and building up the cloud cover in that direction.Even the trails over Nelson were quickly blown over us. :evil:
