Greetings all
22 Aug ... temperature decidedly warmer ... many persistent spreading trails observed from first light ... lot of cirrus cloud ... much glare.
I took the first pic at about 7:45am ... the colours are pretty much what I saw as the sun was rising - sort of eerie, but beautiful.
The other pics show a trail I observed around 8:00am and how a short section of the trail laid appeared dirty/darker than rest ... observed until the drifting trail quickly blended with the surrounding cloud. Shadow? ... I do not think so ... what then?
I have not altered the images other than cropping.
Sunrise on the lower Pelorus Valley.
... just before the darkened part of trail was laid ...
... zoomed in ... camera not capturing the darkness of the section - darker with own eye.
... a moment later ... |

| Hi Ruapaka,I saw that dirty trail or something similar at around 6.30 am (looked like it was heading to aussie)I was trying to take photos but they didnt turn out.Was definitely a spectacle at dawn very eerie alright. All morning the trails were appearing thru the clouds and merging with them.A very interesting day especially as their has been a lull in activity lately. |

Keep an eye on the same sections of the sky from time to time...
I have noticed (looking south from Titahi bay, Wellington) short trails materialize over a specific spot time and time again.. could be the same thing with dark lines in them ... brighter than normal ones etc..
Great shots ruapaka .. keep up the good work! |

ruapaka, we've seen some dark lines, but so far they are all shadows on the haze
your dark lines seem to be in line with the trail, whereas ours have always been off-set, and easy to see that the sun angle corresponds to a shadow
any other reason that gut-feeling, that this is more than a shadow? |

| I don't really have firsthand observation knowledge of chemtrails but I do know that all the shadows of clouds I've ever seen move across the ground and usually not slowly. If that was a shadow of a cloud would it not too visibly move along the trail to some degree? Just a thought. |

sure, Crakka, but what we're talking here, is the shadow of a chemtrail, which can be extremely dense, on (usually) faint haze, giving the impression of a "black beam"
it seems there have been "black beams " observed, which are very difficult to explain in terms of this simple explanation
all the "black beams" i've seen so far, look like shadows, when the sun angle is factored in, even though the haze is sometimes scarcely visible |

Hey there Secondfield ... indeedy I do have areas of my sky-scape that I keep an eye on. Many of the captured 'objects' in some of my previous posts were in these areas. Although ... I live in a valley - not all that much sky to keep watch on.
Hi A Butler .. you wrote ...

The trail in the image is being laid South to North ... Aussie bound craft would be traveling East - West direction. If you saw something similar approx an hour before I did - chances are the area could be the same. ??? I think I know where you are and the trail in the above images would be just west of you - could you place what you saw in that area? Also ... 6:30am - no sun's rays, no shadows, eh?
Hello and welcome Crakka ... you make a good point about whether the dark section moved along the trail. No it did not ... it was definitely a section of trail that was darker. I watched it (the trail with the dark section) do the persistent trail thing - spread, drift and blend.
Hey Steve ... the dark section was not in line with the trail, but part of it. I have not noted this observation before ... the images are not the best - what I saw was much darker and defined ... I could see the trail forms (swirls etc) within the section - sort of a marble look. I'm quite confident it was part of the trail.
So what could it be ... discharge, backfire, something else we don't know about yet. ??? |

| Ruapaka ,I must have been looking at a different trail from you as the one I saw was definitely heading west. There was enough moon light above the western cloud cover to see it .It was a real sooty looking trail, mind you the general colours in the sky that morning were pretty spectacular.Something I have never seen before in my 30 years of 3 to 4 am starts....Your house is about 2.5 kms east/southeast of us. |
