If it's available would someone please post here any information on "alternative" radio (and TV) stations that can be accessed from Auckland, as well as for the rest of the country. If sources like this are out there maybe it could be considered for a "sticky" post reference.

I'm just keen to know if there's a radio station that I can tune into in my car that ISN'T the normal one-sided shite that pulsates through the heads of the majority of listeners and tackles many of the topics discussed here. I've tried occasionally to find something on normal bandwidths without much luck and up till now only received the usually available stuff. bFM's been my main choice but obviously the programming there is too diverse to allow lengthy delving into any particular topics - The Wire program around the middle of the day being really the only slot that does it to any degree.

A list of radio & TV stations and their frequencies/band (that the anyone who's not an electronics/radio expert could access) would be great!

Random thought time... Further to that, wouldn't it be great (no, necessary?!!!) if pirate TV and radio made a comeback in this regard! Probably a lot harder to get away with these days but seems to me like something that NEEDS to happen to try and get information spread around. I guess the reality of this might be that it take the form of "interjections" of existing bandwidths or programming so as to throw "counterpoints" into existing broadcast mass media news programmes etc... Hmmm, I like the sound of that hehe! The associated problems of misinformation would always be there of course but could it be any worse than what we already have ie. virtually no balanced alternative views expressed in mass media these days? The "revolutionary act" of spreading truth would probably require the use of as many tools as possible WHILE we still have access to them... Just random thoughts as I said...

Oh and the most important info would be how it is accessed. That is, what equipment is necessary. For instance, can someone who has just a standard radio that can access FM, MW, etc and also just a standard TV aerial or even "bunny ears" access it? Example -

Earth Mother TV (standard VHF/UHF)

Free Radical Radio (99.9FM)

Or something like that that's easy to understand :)
