Brisbane Airport told the local media the jets making a series of five intersecting contrail circles above the Gold Coast recently were 'circling' Gold Coast airport after being diverted from fog-bound Brisbane.

1. Jets do not circle airports in such a manner - high speed circles at 20,000 ft.
2. Jets circle at low level at low speed in a 'racetrack ' shaped course.
3. There is simply not enough distance between the Gold Coast and Brisbane for jets to climb back up to 20,000ft, assuming they came in low to circle Brisbane.
