Hello everyone ... good to be back in biz :D
I have been itching to share these images taken on 3 June ... The first three images were taken from Canvastown - facing NW ... the last was taken from the lower Pelorus Valley.
There were trails galore - mostly thin bands that segmented and drifted in patches. What I was intrigued about was the 'oil slick' or rainbow colours in some of the clouds. The glare was intense and without sunnies the colours were not visible. I used the sunnies to filter the glare and try and photograph the colours, but it didn't work.
There were all sorts of cloud formations that day - I sited three different patches of cloud that had the 'oil slick' colours.
taken without any filter .. intense glare ... the patch of cloud just up from the lower left corner was the first cloud I saw the colours in - specifically, along the brightest part ...
... same cloud a minute later - with sunnies as filter ... a busy sky scene ...
...different location, same direction, different clouds ... I was trying to capture the oil slick colours I saw in this other cloud - the line of cloud that starts from the sun and goes to just above the hills - the colours were visible most of the length, especially at the north end ... alas, I was unable to capture the colours, but the intense whiteness of them can be seen ...

Come to Hamilton, you can see all the "oil slick" clouds you could (or wouldn't) wish for. And I have pics if you want them.
I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing these things and that it is not just Hamilton.
I have tried telling a few people about them in the past but get that "you need a straight-jacket" look. So decided to keep my mouth shut. Will try and upload at some stage.
Who knows, maybe it's just the two of us that are nuts

notice also, in your pics, Treknut72, the "cross-hatching effect evident in these pics, very clearly, in at least two places
if there was a natural development of cirrus from the water vapour in jet exhausts, wouldn-t they develop in the same direction as the ordinary cirrus??? ....that is in lines brought about by the porpoising of the airflow??
funny thing, when the oily haze is apparent, there is usually an associated appearance of strange lines in the sky
is the crap that they're spreading up there, being used to act as some sort of flux for some sort of "scalar" energy?
is this being used to control the weather?
when i posted the theory a week ago or so, that this might be a way of harvesting water and sending it to Mars, it was quite a surprise to see, two days later, NASA making an official announcement that water had been found on Mars (they said they knew it was there before, but this time they had "touched it")
whatever, i suppose "touching" water on Mars is a great way of exciting the taxpayers.........keep on that treadmill, folks, today we find water on Mars, tomorrow we'll find traces of Coca-cola

Here are a couple of pics and a link to more of "oil spill" clouds. Thought I had more but can't find them anywhere on my comp.

And a very recent one
