I wasn't able to watch the sky the whole day but what I did see was stunning. Trails all day long.
Bad huh. |

Cheers! Yup smash never sleeps 8)
I witnessed a new thing yesterday, I was sitting at Lyall Bay looking south and saw a trail forming behind a craft heading NNE from down south. Then suddenly well before it got to the top of the south island it banked left hard still leaving a trail for a minute showing the change in flight path.
He must have changed his mind about flying north! |

Yep, thats odd..
Generally flights heading out over the Tasman will make a bee-line for aussie from their point of depature (Chch / Queenstown) and not fly to the top of the south island and then turn off out over the Tasman.... I will enquire with ATC as to why this may be the case..... |

Well,
There goes our theories of chemtrail rain supression.... After one of the heaviest trail days in a while ... its pouring down outside....
Possible control panel nomenclature in the cockpit....
button 'A' (blue) - RAIN
button 'B' (red) - NO RAIN

After Quizzing my ATC contact re the aircraft smash photographed turning over the top of the SI this is his response... his answers are highlighted in black
| Quote: | Also attached is a picture my friend Jeremy took yesterday (13th) of what appears to be a contrailling aircraft heading up the west coast of the south island and then making a right angled turn to head across the Tasman.
Why would a Jet aircraft heading up the west coast of the south Island change its course and make a 90 deg turn at the tip of the island and head directly west out into the Tasman?
pass !! you have me there .. a most unusual photo, esp with the cloud formations and no visible horizon .. I do not have an answer for you I am afraid, ... it could have been military, but ....
Im assuming most commercial aircraft going to Australia would make a bee line directly to their destination...
you are correct Brendon re the Aust aircraft. we will soon have an air route map on our website that shows the most used domestic and international air routes for NZ so hope that will be a help for those reporting sightings. |
Makes you wonder eh... does anyone in an official capacity really know whats going on upstairs? CAA apparently are reticent to the point of being obnoxious to release specific details of overflights. ATC can only request this sort of info if there is a breach of regulations (safety) or an incident (accident) to investigate.
Well done Jeremy, a crucial piece of evidence.... |

Kia ora
Here's something I just read ...
In a past topic, John posted a link to an article on Rense.com - "The UFO - Chemtrail Connection" by Brenda Livingston. I thought of the excerpt below when reading about your obs (and image).
https://www.mysteriousnewzealand.co.nz/forums/viewtopic.php?p=2802#2802
| Quote: | | Traces of UFOs creating contrails have been witnessed and photographed and are indicated by the following: 1) oval or spherical objects photographed and witnessed in front of a persistent contrail, 2) contrails with 90 degree or near 90 degree turns witness and photographed 3) double contrails that spiral around one another, 4) larger twisting contrails in which the twist is unlike that caused by wind shear, 5) smaller trails sweeping through or past larger persistent contrails | .
The article is a good read.

Tell them they can use our flight vector map on their website if they leave the Mysterious New Zealand logo on it... :D |

By the way... does anyone actually use our Flight Vector Map? This is the sort of situation it was designed for... |
