cool boys' toys Deano

There's an airshow locally in early April, they reckon they've got a Mustang coming........often they advertise Spitfires and suchlike, and they never materialise

Also a Trojan

My son and i used to do the pyrotechnics for the show south of Launceston...........STRESSFUL ! !........not enough time for setup, stunt planes in the wrong place, blowing the lines awry, talk about performance anxiety !

We had Sea Furies every year, and a MiG jet from the 50s one year, among others

Me and my friends guessed at about 7-10,000 people at this show, but I picked up the Feilding Herald today and it reports there was 30,000 (heh! dont ever ask me to judge numbers).

The drawcard for me is always the F1-11 flybys (kindly supplied by the Aussies), my plane buff friend reporting that it may be the last time to travel to New Zealand (retiring the fleet?).

All of the little children playing with each other, ignoring the show overhead were soon made to pay attention as the sleek F1-11sped in silently from out far in the distance and its not until the plane is over you that the shockwave of sound hits. Took a couple of 7-10 second movies of its flyby if anyone interested.
